Dining Guide for iPod - Live site
A browseable database of the Seattle Weekly's entire restaurant guide, viewable on any iPod sold on or after 2003.
- Takes up as much space as the average MP3
- Browseable by neighborhood, cuisine, and price
- Auto-managed through my custom-built listings database (automated creation and compression).
- The same model has been replicated on the WashingonPost.com, Lawrence.com, and NaplesNews.com sites.
Desktop Showtimes Widget (beta)
A new method to browse all of the local showtimes through a small desktop widget.
- Designed to make one small server request on load, then the rest is handled by the client.
- Built as a dashboard widget for OS X users, and migrated to a Yahoo! Widget for PC users.
- Currently being tested, not live to any users.
Flash-based news update for HDTV streaming
Built for the ABC owned affiliates to take advantage of their small bandwidth HDTV multicast channels.
- Coordinated the effort with content producers, flash developers, and technical producers
- Conceived of a flexible wrapper/slide relationship which allows for mid-stream updates to a running flash app.
- Populated with dynamic content originating from multiple sources, using XML

Conceived as a live development ground to explore new methods of delivering online news. Currently on hiatus.
- Wrote, designed and programmed every part of the site.
- Played with different ideas regarding story structure, best practices, and information architecture.
- Explored hybrid ideas, merging two very different sites or applications, to create something new and better. Including the iReader, which I still get requests for a fully functional application
The Daily Camera - More Details
Coordinated the effort to completely redesign (and rethink) this site for the Daily Camera. As a direct result of the redesign and subsequent efforts to publicize it, the site's viewership grew to 12 times it's original size within a year.Since the redesign I have been responsible for creating special online news packages, supervising special projects, and producing new sections.

Tragedy at Columbine - More Details
Worked alongside the newsroom to accurately and sympathetically cover the Columbine Shootings .A team of reporters, photographers, internet producers, and I worked around the clock to provide coverage of this story to a national audience.

Rave - More Details
I worked with a team of an internet producer, a photographer, and a two reporters to analyze the issue of rave culture in Boulder.
- Designed and organized the content in this section, taking it from a short print series to a standalone online section.
- A series of articles describing rave culture from multiple angles, a photo gallery, a music gallery, and a forum where readers could discuss rave culture with several kids who were living the lifestyle.
